Kangana Ranaut Recalls Undergoing Massive Physical Transformation For ‘Thalaivii’; Says ‘I Gained 20kgs For My Role’
Thalaivii is based on the life of late Jayalalithaa, and the film showcases the varied aspects of her life.
Kangana Ranaut has scaled great heights with her performance and sheer hard work. While the actress leaves no stone unturned in the portrayal of any character she picks, well similar was the case for her recent release, Thalaivii. Kangana’s dedication towards her characters encouraged her to undergo a massive physical transformation and she gained twenty kgs for her role.
Based on the life of late Jayalalithaa, the film showcases the varied aspects of her life and her journey as an actress at a young age along with her influence on the politics of Tamilnadu.

Taking to her Instagram Stories on February 9, Kangana has now shared a throwback picture from the film's set. Alongside the picture, she wrote, "#throwback to Thalaivii days when I gained 20 kgs for my role (star emoji)".
Dressed in a blue denim jacket and trousers, the 'Panga' actress is seen reading a book in the picture.
Back in September 2021, the actress uploaded a couple of pictures comparing her two looks - her character look for which she put on weight and her look after getting back in shape.
She had shared how preparing for 'Thalaivii' impacted her as she wrote, "Gaining 20 kgs in 6 months and loosing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body ….
I also have permanent stretch marks as well but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself."
Thalaivii was presented by Vibri Motion pictures, Karma Media Entertainment and Zee Studios in association with Gothic Entertainment and Sprint films has been produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh and Co-produced by Hitesh Thakkar and Thirumal Reddy with Brinda Prasad as the Creative Producer.
